Once the vehicle purchase contract has been signed, a deposit of 10% is required to reserve or order a car from an official Spanish dealership or a factory in Europe, or 15% if the factory is in the U.S.A. As regards discounting VAT: for a company or a self-employed professional the VAT can be discounted from the purchase of a vehicle as long as an invoice is available that features the VAT as a separate item. Such invoices can only be issued for new cars or some cars that were previously registered in the name of a company. So if the car to be bought is new or pre-owned and has an invoice that specifies the VAT, then there will be no problem.
